In situations where the environment is hostile or physically challenging, military and law enforcement organizations use tactical robots for evaluation and often time engagement of the target.

Robotex is a private manufacturer of tactical robots. The Avatar II, tactical robot is made of material which makes it impervious to most environments. It can access areas that are too small for humans. In addition, it is capable of traversing a variety of terrain such as clothes, and stairs to name a few, and has video and two-way audio allowing the operator to engage with the target.
